About Van Steel Erbil

Van Steel Erbil is an iron and steel plant in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, run by Galiawa Group. The KRG Prime Minister officially inaugurated it on 28 November 2023, and the KRG described it as the largest iron and steel facility in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

  • Rebar: two rolling mills producing 8–32 mm bars with a combined capacity of 700,000 tons a year.
  • Steelmaking: an electric arc furnace (EAF) meltshop.
  • Products: rebar, billet and wire rod according to the Global Energy Monitor tracker.

The 8–32 mm range covers most needs for slabs, columns and foundations. When you buy, ask for the steel analysis / test certificate for each load, check the diameter and weight per metre with the rebar weight calculator, and count the bars and check the quality before unloading.
